1. The Difference Between Bees and Wasps

For example, bees appear large, hairy and fuzzy, while wasps are much slimmer, shinier, and are often a brighter shade of yellow. However, wasps are known to be more aggressive and can sting multiple times without causing injury to themselves.

Unlike a bees’ nest, which is made of wax and resembles honeycombs, a wasps’ nest will look like a swirling hive made of gray paper or clay. Wasps generally build nests in outlying enclaves: attics, awnings, voids in building walls, bushes, mailboxes, decks, and even tree logs are all ideal spots. 


They will usually stay outside where it’s warm and dry, but if it gets cold and rainy, they may try to find shelter in tight openings around your home. If they discover that your home is a source of food, they will begin to build their nests near you. For example, wasps are attracted to certain scents, so don’t wear perfumes and switch to odorless hair products. If a wasp is near you, don’t make any sudden movements. Moving slowly will keep them from getting irritated. 


Your skin is more protected when you wear heavier layers, but because many stingers can penetrate clothes, and wearing heavy clothes is uncomfortable in warmer seasons, you should only dress in layers when you’re around a hive, rather than all the time. And because wasps are attracted to colors and patterns, wear white clothes to avoid looking too interesting.
